Temporary Access (Case-by-Case)
Unlisted Countries
VPN access will require approval from the Head of IT for countries outside the approved list.
These will normally be placed onto the Temporary Access Rule unless a recurring business need exists
If travel to an unlisted country is required, contact IT Helpdesk for guidance.
4. Validation / Testing
Confirm VPN connection is successful from the approved country.
For case-by-case access, test connection before departure to ensure configuration is applied.
Verify that internet access without VPN still functions if VPN access is not granted.
5. Troubleshooting
Unable to connect while travelling: Check if you are in an approved country.
Travelling to US/UK: Ensure IT Helpdesk has enabled your access.
Unexpected VPN block: Contact IT Helpdesk (ithelpdesk@makita.com.au).
6. Risks / Considerations
Attempting to connect from non-approved countries without prior authorisation will result in VPN denial.
Lack of VPN access may prevent access to business systems and files.
Always request access before departure to avoid business disruption.
